I’m Richard Burton, a watercolour artist based at The Richard Burton Art Centre on the stunning Yorkshire coast, near the dramatic Bempton Cliffs. My work is inspired by the natural beauty around me, and I love using the power of colour to create atmosphere in my paintings. Whether you’re just starting out with watercolour or you’re an experienced artist looking for new techniques and inspiration, this channel is for you. Together, we’ll explore how to harness the power of colour to bring your artwork to life and capture the essence of the world around us. His courses are friendly and down-to-earth, focusing on making progress feel simple and achievable. Whether you’re painting to unwind, rediscover a creative spark, or build new skills, you’ll find Richard’s guidance thoughtful, encouraging and rooted in years of real-world experience. It’s about more than just learning to paint, it’s about enjoying every step of the journey.

Step inside the Richard Burton Art Centre, a peaceful, light-filled space nestled near the dramatic Bempton Cliffs. Open to visitors throughout the week, the gallery showcases a rich collection of Richard’s original watercolours, oils, and mixed-media works. From sweeping moorlands to quiet harbours, each piece captures the mood and beauty of East Yorkshire. Visitors are welcome to browse, purchase, or simply soak in the inspiration. Private commissions are also available for those wishing to preserve a special place or memory in paint.

Open every day except Mondays and Tuesdays, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

The Richard Burton Art Centre is located just a stone’s throw from the spectacular Bempton Cliffs on the East Yorkshire coast, a perfect day out for art lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

We’re easy to reach by car and there’s free parking on site. Combine your gallery visit with a walk along the cliffs or a stop at one of the nearby seaside villages.
