Do I need any prior painting experience to join a course?

Not at all. Our beginner course is designed for absolute newcomers. Richard guides you through each step in a friendly, relaxed way – no pressure, just creativity.

The taster includes a short video lesson, a printable PDF project guide, and a few simple exercises to get you started. It’s the perfect way to try watercolour without committing to a full course.

Once you’ve purchased a course, you’ll receive an email with login details. Simply log in to your personal student dashboard on the website, where you’ll find your courses ready to start. You can pause and return anytime – your progress will be saved.

What materials do I need?

You’ll only need a few basic supplies to get started: watercolour paints, brushes, and good-quality paper. A simple starter set is more than enough. Richard also provides a recommended materials list in the course so you know exactly what to use (and affordable options are included).

Yes. As part of Richard’s teaching philosophy, students can submit one painting per month for personal feedback. You’ll upload your work through the student dashboard, and Richard will provide guidance to help you improve and grow.

No, you can learn entirely at your own pace. Once you’ve purchased a course, you’ll have lifetime access to all lessons and resources, so you can revisit the material whenever you like.
